Wow! Did you see the update! OMG lots going on. Hope we can get some new blood on-board to help with some of these events.
Spring is here and we are in the process of getting a crew together for May 4th at 9am to do some grounds cleanup, and we are working with some people on getting together to spruce up the place, plant new flowers, maybe some trees or ornamental grass? Who knows but we are gonna try.
There are 29 members that are still delinquent. Please, the time and effort this takes of members to call, email or text to get these resolved is consuming. If you lost your slip reach out, we can find out what you owe and let you know. We have access to a Venmo account if that helps, believe me we will come up with a solution. If you wish to drop your membership please write a letter to our secretary and request a complete demit, you will however have to pay your dues for the year to make this happen. If you complete demit you can rejoin at anytime, if not here then at another Lodge. If you are not a member in good standing you will not be allowed in the tap room, even if your spouse is a member. Presumably, you saw something in Elkdom that made you want to join. If that has changed due to reasons behind the scenes we do not know about please reach out and let us know. We can't help correct issues if we don't know about them.
The past few weeks has been uplifting, some new members and some not so new members are stepping up. We have a crew for every Friday but the 5th. We can work on that or maybe we’ll just not have a meal that night and let members, oh I don't know have a donation basket and we order in pizzas no fuss. Just a night to enjoy each others company and relax. Please let an officer know if you have an opinion.... don't we all have one?
There are many events coming up and the officers are trying to figure a date for an initiation. If you have proposed someone for membership, please reassure them we are working on it. If we can't get it done on a weekend maybe a weeknight? Or maybe another district initiation to get people in and off the waiting list? We can also reach out to other Lodges and see when they are having an initiation and request that some of our proposed go there. They would still be a member of our Lodge. We all can think outside the box to make things happen. Let work together for the better.
I know you think its early, but it’s spring and people like to clean out their houses and garages. If you have things that are gently used, are clean and salable, bring them to the Lodge for our annual lodge yard sale. We don't have a date yet but we might even be able to pull off a chicken BBQ on the Friday or Saturday of the sale.
Thank you for all you do for the Lodge and the community we support in all of our endeavors. Brighten someone's day with a simple gesture, a smile, a laugh, buy them a coffee or a flower. You never know what one small act of kindness can mean.
