Greetings to my Kinderhook Elks family,
The summer is just flying by. We have been busy, and it's gonna get hectic for like the next six weeks and we need all the help we can get. There is a wedding on August 12th for over 150 people in the pavilion. The dinner is being plated and served, There is also a DD clinic in the morning so that day will be a hustle and bustle from sunup till late in the evening. We need help, if you can help all day, great, if you can only help for a few hours that works too. Everything you do helps. This is a big event so if you can help please reach out to us, it's easier for you to tell us than for us to call 335 members. But we will do what we need to as a team.
Two weeks after the wedding is..... can you guess? Yup!! Directing traffic at the Chatham Fair. This is the biggest, longest, and most demanding six days of the year. WE NEED YOU!! We need as many members as we can get, want to work with your family and friends great bring them along. You don't have to be a member to help. Every shift needs to be covered not only for the ease of directing cars but for the safety of all involved.
There is an initiation of three new members on Sunday the 13th, if you're able to help by making something for the event it would be greatly appreciated. Believe it or not you are appreciated. If you're new to the Lodge and you have questions about anything reach out, if we don't know the answer we will find it out. If you've never worked the fair that's ok, Terri is putting together an overview event of what happens and how we get things accomplished. Stay tuned for dates.
There are over 330 members of this Lodge we all have a different perspective on things and we all have our own way of doing things. Let's learn from each other, be respectful, listen, learn and have an open mind.
On a good note, God gave us another beautiful day for the car show!!! It was a fantastic day. We learn a bit more every year on how to make things better. We have new ideas for next year, we are working on more vendors, food trucks, streamlining registration, having a band etc. Do you want to get involved? All are welcome, ideas and individual talents are greatly appreciated. I would personally like to thank everyone who helped out during the year and to all those who showed up on Saturday.
Stegmann will be gearing up and this year we will be sailing in uncharted waters. We will no longer be working with the Ghent VFW. Both organizations feel this will be better for the communities we serve. If they receive our forms they will pass them along to us and if we receive theirs we will return the favor. We will be supplying our own toys, so if you're a good shopper get involved. This a huge project for the community, and the Lodge.
Thank you for everything you all do for the Lodge and the community we serve. It's not about us, it's about the community, Veterans and youth.
