To the Members, Families and Supporters of Kinderhook Elks Lodge,
Well, here we go from April to May; from Showers to Flowers. The weather will become warmer and activities outside the lodge building will become more frequent.
With the arrival of Spring, we were once again blessed by having the Easter Bunny make a special appearance at the Kinderhook Village gazebo/square on April 16th where over 160 attended. The Easter Bunny was kind enough to allow pictures to be taken, with those that wished to, and had delicious treats for the kids. Big thanks to Chairs Larry Knott and Bert Beach and their committee crew on a job well done. Also, thanks to Stewarts for donating ice cream for the event, to the Village of Kinderhook for the use of the space, and to all the businesses and individuals who made donations, which allow this event to happen.
Speaking of the Easter Bunny, another thanks for attending our Sunday Breakfasts on April 10th and 17th. Once again, the Easter Bunny allowed pictures with all the kids that attended and provided treats to them. In addition, the Easter Bunny spent an afternoon at the Grand (Barnwell) Rehabilitation Center visiting with patients and their families.
Please notice that the Special Needs Prom, which was scheduled for April 30th, has been postponed to a later date. Current plans are to hold it in November 2022. As details become available, we will send notices out.
On Sunday April 3rd, an Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held for Sean NeJaime of Kinderhook Troop 113. Leading Knight Chris Bellingham and I had the honor of attending the ceremony. Eagle Scout Sean was presented with a certificate of achievement from the lodge. He was also presented with a flag previously flown over the nation's capital.
The month of May is getting busy as well. The first week of May is the Elks National Youth Week. For this, we are holding a dinner for the Ichabod Crane Boys Basketball and their families on Sunday, May 1st. Then on May 2nd, the lodge is hosting a
CPR & AED training/certification and is open to the public.
On Saturday, May 7th the lodge is hosting the Homecoming for the State Vice President of the North Hudson District. May 12th thru May 15th is the NY State Elks Convention. This year it is being held at the Villa Roma in Callicoon, NY (in the Catskills). Though a two hour ride, all Elk members are welcome to attend. On the 26th of May, the first of the monthly ‘Bike Nights’ will be held.
Hope to see you there.
Fraternally,
Exalted Ruler John Piddock, SVP
